How Many Rounds Are In CSGO Competitive & Casual Matches
In standard Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) competitive matches, there are 30 rounds in total, with each team playing 15 rounds on both the terrorist (T) and counter-terrorist (CT) sides.
The first team to win 16 rounds wins the match. If both teams win 15 rounds each, resulting in a 15-15 score, the match ends in a tie in regular competitive play. However, in professional tournaments and specific competitive settings, overtime rules come into play to determine a winner.
During overtime, teams play additional rounds in sets of 6 (3 rounds on each side) with $16,000 starting money. The first team to win 4 rounds in overtime wins the match. If teams tie again in overtime, another overtime period begins until a winner is determined.
Here are the different round formats in CS:GO:
Competitive Mode: 30 rounds (15 per side) Short Competitive Mode: 16 rounds (8 per side) Casual Mode: First team to win 8 rounds Wingman Mode: First team to win 9 rounds Professional Matches: 30 rounds + overtime if needed
It's worth noting that rounds in CS:GO are time-limited. Each round lasts 1 minute and 55 seconds (1:55) in competitive play, though this can be modified in custom games or specific game modes.
The round ends when one of these conditions is met:
All players on one team are eliminated The bomb explodes (T win) The bomb is defused (CT win) Time runs out (CT win if bomb isn't planted, T win if planted)
This round structure has been a cornerstone of CS:GO's competitive format since its release and continues to be the standard in both casual and professional play.
